Wonderhop rules and how to play
Last verified: 2026-10-30
Each day is four short rounds. Everyone on that language sees the same questions. You type a real answer. A prepared answer list sets the first percentages, then live play moves them. Anything off the list is judged, and a rejection comes back with a reason.
The loop
- Four rounds, seven questions, shared by players that day.
- 30 seconds on Sky, Past, and Future. 40 seconds on Abyss.
- Up to 100 points a question, 700 a round, 2,800 a day.
- A nickname puts you on the daily board. No account is required.
| Round | You are aiming for | Timer | Official comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sky | The answer most people give | 30s | Family Feud style, played alone |
| Abyss | A true answer almost nobody gives | 40s | Pointless style |
| Past | The oldest real answer | 30s | A timeline, no year typed |
| Future | The newest real answer | 30s | Same timeline, other end |

Three mix-ups I keep seeing
The next round is not a replay
On the 13 Oct 2026 Show HN thread, a player hit the control that looked like play-again and landed in a different direction. The developer said the label would change. Read the banner at the start of a round. If it says Abyss, type the rare answer, not the popular one.
Rare means rare among players, not rare in your head
The Abyss page says an accepted answer nobody had given yet gets an estimated share, then follows the people who give it after you. A player on that same thread was marked down for a food they believed was obscure, because the crowd had not typed it first. I describe rarity as a moving crowd, not a fixed trivia list.
The judge is sometimes unfair
The developer wrote that about 1 to 1.5 percent of answers are judged a bit unfairly. That is a self-report from 13 Oct 2026, not a published error budget. If a true answer is refused, rephrase it with a clearer common name before the timer ends. The rating bands below Perfect are not given as number ranges on the official pages. See scoring.

The press sheet also says the game is not affiliated with any TV show. The Family Feud and Pointless lines are comparisons the official mode pages use, not licenses.
Questions people ask
How many questions are in Wonderhop?
Four rounds of seven questions, so 28 answers on a full day. The press sheet and the how-to-play page both say this.
Is there a multiple-choice list?
No. You type the answer. The most-common mode page says there are no choices and no letters to fill in.
What if the judge rejects a real answer?
The how-to-play page says a rejection includes a short reason and you can try again while the timer runs. A timeout scores zero for that question.
